Childhood friends from a very early age, Kate and Amanda founded Hauser Loehnis & Co in late 2024. Whether a timeless family home or a vibrant hospitality project, HLCo strives to create an architecturally truthful backdrop where interiors can land comfortably. Simultaneously, all elements are tailored to the clients’ unique needs and narratives. This approach results in highly personal and nuanced projects that transcend trend and fashion, creating spaces with lasting resonance and longevity.
OUR MISSION
We create enduring spaces and objects as functional as they are beautiful, designed to bring lasting joy and purpose to everyday life.
OUR EXPERTISE
Our capabilities span a wide range of project types. For residential redesigns and renovations, we provide detailed construction drawings and hands-on design and systems guidance and expert project management.
For larger commercial and new-build projects, we collaborate closely with architectural, contracting and branding teams to deliver cohesive and refined results.
OUR APPROACH
We believe great design starts with curiosity and is driven by collaboration. Every project begins with a complete inventory of each client's unique needs, style, and lifestyle. Our process addresses every aspect of the interior environment: spatial layout, flow, interior architectural elements, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, accessories, and artwork.
We stay closely involved through all project phases, from initial concept and design development to construction oversight and final installation. This ensures the design vision is fully realized, down to the smallest detail.

KATE HAUSER
Kate is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Rhode Island School of Design with a master’s degree of architecture. Her early career led her across the country working in Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, and New York, providing her with a comprehensive appreciation of American design, and a mature approach to high-level client services. In particular, Kate excels at the integration of architectural expression with the elements of interior design - namely ‘interior architecture’: re-carving existing space, lighting design, millwork, wall treatments, hardware, custom furnishings and cabinetry.
After years of mentorship under influential designers who top the AD100 list, she established her own residential and hospitality studio in 2004. Off hours, Kate enjoys live music, hosting friends for laid-back dinners, and being completely unserious about skiing, hiking and a few racquet sports.
AMANDA LOEHNIS
Amanda Loehnis’s path to interior design has been shaped by a lifelong love of creativity, materials, and thoughtful detail. She began her career in publishing in New York and London, where she honed her storytelling and organizational skills, both of which now inform her approach to design. She later studied interior design at Parsons School of Design, further sharpening her eye and formalizing her passion for the field.
While living in Hong Kong, Amanda launched a children’s clothing brand, honing her appreciation for texture, color, and craftsmanship. Her nine years in Asia, along with extensive travels, expanded her approach to design, as well as her passion for art collecting.
Today, she creates functional, sophisticated spaces that reflect each client’s unique story. Amanda lives in Connecticut on a farm with her husband, two children, two ducks (Whiskey Waddles and Bao Bao), two dogs (Lady Bear and Boswell), and four beehives.
